The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College

The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College

Located in the cultural center of a world-class city, The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College offers students Bachelor's and Associate degree programs in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, Restaurant Management, and Hotel Management. Graduates leave school with an impressive resume because they participate in apprenticeships at restaurants, hotels or pastry shops under the guidance of professional chefs.

Culinary Arts
Students are immersed in a dynamic, innovative program featuring techniques of master chefs. Students start with building a foundation in the latest culinary techniques. In advanced classes, they discover the world of international cuisine. They learn creative aspects of the industry including recipe development, menu planning, kitchen and human resource management, wine selection, and dining room service. With a balanced 4-year academic program, they graduate as business professionals.

Pastry Arts
This major is designed in the classic European tradition of fine Pastry Arts. Students build a solid foundation in professional baking skills and techniques and experience a blend of culinary arts courses, food purchasing, kitchen management, human resources management, marketing, and retailing. Courses encompass European and American desserts including cakes, tortes, cookies, petit fours, ice creams, sorbets, breads, and more.

Tour of France
One of the many unique features is that students participate in a weeklong, tuition-paid gastronomic Tour of France. They explore charming French villages and some of the finest dining in Europe. Best of all, they have the opportunity to study with international culinary professionals.
